Wags & Whiskers Walk-a-thon

Back by popular demand!
SPCA's 2006 Wags & Whiskers Walk-a-thon and Pet Fair.
April 30, 2006 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at FDR Park in Yorktown.
After a six-year hiatus, the SPCA's Walk-a-thon has returned!

Join hundreds of dogs and their people at this day long festival to raise funds for the SPCA's animal rescue programs. First, high-tail it around the 2.5 mile Walk-a-thon loop at beautiful FDR Park. Then, enjoy fun filled activities for your family, your dog, and you at the SPCA Pet Fair featuring:

  • Adoption Booth highlighting some of the SPCA's dogs and cats in need of new homes

  • For Kids: animal sand art, face painting, Fluffy and Fido frame making and special appearance by Kazoo the Clown

  • Canine Contests:
    • Bobbin for Balls - Every retrieving dog's dream! Dogs bob to get the most tennis balls out of a kiddie pool in 30 seconds.
    • Fastest Tail off the Taconic - Wags away! Will your dog break the speed limit?

  • Live Demonstrations by agility dogs Nan and Penny with their person Martin Levy, herding demos by Tess, Lil and Gwen with their person Carol Lockhart, DVM, and demos by Westchester County Police Department's Explosive/Narcotics Canines.

  • Dog Tunes by Murray Weinstock..."A real barker" - NY Times

  • Vendors with pet related specialties

  • SPCA Humane Law Enforcement Officers
